About Mike

A Strong Voice For District 5

Born, raised, and educated in District 5, I am a proud and (almost) lifelong resident deeply committed to our community. My journey began at Northbrook Elementary, continued at BI-HI, and culminated in being the Valedictorian at Dartmouth High School. Growing up, I competed in many regattas on Lake Banook and, despite my best efforts, golfed (rather poorly) at Brightwood Golf & Country Club.

I pursued higher education at Dalhousie University, where I earned a Bachelor of Commerce, alongside other professional qualifications that have equipped me with a solid foundation in business and leadership. My professional career saw me serve as a Lieutenant Commander and Maritime Surface Officer, concluding my military service at the Naval Officer Training Centre VENTURE.

Transitioning to academia, I became the Dean for a group of business schools. These roles have allowed me to contribute to shaping the future leaders of our community.

Outside of my professional life, I am a proud parent to two wonderful children, Harley and Grace. I have also dedicated time to volunteer with several local organizations, including Hal-Con, Film-Fest, and Tall Ships, fostering a strong connection with our vibrant community.

With a lifetime of experience and a deep-rooted commitment to District 5, I am passionate about serving our community and advocating for positive change.
